Course
The 5km will start and finish in the parking lot at Seaside Reef which is located at the south end of Cardiff State Beach. The course starts flat and fast turning south out of the Seaside Parking Lot and running along a spectacular section of on Coast Highway 101 bordered on the east by the San Elijo Lagoon and on the west by the beautiful Pacific Ocean. You’ll pass the 1-mile mark at the bridge overlooking Cardiff Reef, one of the best surf spots on the west coast. The bridge marks the start a gradual climb past the infamous Cardiff Kook to the turn-around* just past the main entrance to the Cardiff State Beach Camp Grounds. Upon making the turn-around, your legs are ready for the downhill to carry you back along this magical stretch of California Coastline and the flat final mile to the festivities at the finish line.

There is no official parking area for this event. However there is street parking near race site and we recommend parking at the Solana Beach Train Station which has a couple convenient pedestrian bridges that will take you to HYW 101.
